i agree wif zitao aka Buddy's post on how the world is degrading
lol we talked abt it on the bus so i decided to support his views

the world focuses too much on getting power and achieving success, self-esteem is praised, success is always required, causing ppl to sabo each other as they try to get ahead of others

Matthew 6:19-21 ->" Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

i was reading a particular passage yesterday in the King James Bible when i came upon this verse that shows the futility of hoarding the things of this world

1 Timothy 6:7 ->" For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."

studying is for our gain, that i agree, but forcing ppl to study juz bcos of tests/ exams/ portfolio takes away the focus of acquiring knowledge. instead of learning bcos of true interest (muz put the 'true' or else teachers will say 'rly? then dun study my subject lor', have a bad impression of u, then u gg [more abt 'impressions' nxt time] ), ppl, children and youths specifically, acquire knowledge with weak foundations if they dun like the subject. they will then perpetuate the cycle that 'muz beef up portfolio....' mentality, nvr truly learning for their interests' sake or help others gain knowledge

of coz, adults say frm their 'experience' that having results and achievements is the only way to have a gd life (i put exp in inverted commas due to previous sentence, where they r perpetuating the cycle of choinging 4 achievements w/o truly helping other ppl )

well, they r wrong

look at the society these days, see any1 wif a true smile on their face? either they kheng1 or they r the lucky few that have their dream job. w/o passion, who would b happy? many ppl grumble abt their jobs, bcos they dun like it. if they rly like the job, they still can smile in the face of difficulties.

some ppl even worse, help others juz to beef up their portfolio. those vile hypocrites. ethics and moral values all pushed away, only want success, success, and success. they view others as stepping stones, juz to get what they want.

even the Bible describes this kind of ppl

2 Timothy 3:2 -> "For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;"

how true....how true indeed
