yep, thats how Satan came into being, from being the 2nd in power in all creation after God, he fell into sin bcos of pride. he wants creation to worship him, or else not to worship God. he goes by many names, to list down a few;

Lucifer : Morning Star
Satan : Adversary
Devil : Slanderer
Beelzebub : Lord of the flies

of coz he goes by many other names and forms, such as 'accuser of the brethren', and is described as a dragon in Revelation.
moreover, he uses pride to sabotage mankind, eg. in the garden of Eden, he tempted Eve to be God, causing the fall of mankind, and nw its worse than ever, using man's own pride and knowledge against them.....which is known as atheism, bcos it makes ppl think that they r self-righteous, w/o a need for a God. (if u disagree then tell me if an atheist would say that they dont think if they r righteous? )

heh dun think tt Satan so stupid to let man niao him for being a red, pot-bellied moustached and horned guy holding a pitchfork la....he portrays tt image using the media, to scam ppl he is like a joker, loser, dumb noob.

he is smarter and trickier than we think,
2 Corinthians 11:14 :'And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.'

ouch. nw he even acts like the gd guy

so ppl dun say i nv warn u ah, Satan is using many ways to make ppl to believe in superstition, idols, materialism and even in themselves, which is the pride of life.....bcos he knows he doesnt have much time left to bring as many ppl as possible away from Christ and heaven.
